Started up in April 2004, the new recovery island is the world's biggest single-line unit in operation so far.
The WISA 800 REC project includes a new evaporation plant, tall oil plant, recovery boiler, turbo-generator, causticising department, lime kiln and
tie-ins with the existing mill. The main equipment suppliers for the recovery island were Andritz Oy and Siemens AG.
The total investment cost was about EUR 240 million.
Pöyry's services included complete engineering, construction management services, commissioning and start-up assistance for the new recovery island and tie-ins with the existing mill departments.
