Myllykoski Group, Rhein Papier GmbH, Hürth PM1, Germany
Pöyry provided complete mill engineering, including construction management and start-up services, for the new newsprint line, which was started up in July 2002.
The investment included a new deinking plant, waste paper storage, paper machine with finishing equipment, paper storage and connections to the existing power and water treatment plants.
The mill's energy, water and maintenance services are outsourced. The mill has a capacity of 280 000 tons per year of newsprint.
Both the client's and Pöyry's project teams were the same as in the Lang PM5 project, which was crucial in meeting the strict project time schedule.
The paper machine achieved a 24-h world record speed of 1912 m/min in March 2003.
